Comfort and variety in Australian accommodation

Wilderness Lodges, Outback stations, Mountain cottages, Seaside apartments

All of our tours are fully accommodated in the best available facilities personally selected by our Directors close to National Parks and trail heads, invariably in character settings.

Australian accommodation will inevitably vary across all tours but will include:

  • luxury seaside apartments and resorts
  • hideaway Bed & Breakfast mountain cottages
  • regional and village motor-inns
  • environmental and wilderness lodges
  • restored outback stations shearers and guest quarters

Generally, these are of 3 to 5 star standard, twin share with private facilities. One or two nights in very remote outback settings could involve presentable shared facilities in fully restored farm cottages and shearers quarters, previous guests have found quiet acceptable.

Our approach to Rooming and Single Supplements

We appreciate quality of accommodation is an important consideration when you travel. Hence we will detail our approach to your Australian accommodation here. Further, some people prefer to travel as a single and would be prepared to pay more for “single supplement” accommodation on our tours.

A number of factors determine our Rooming and Single Supplement approach:

  • First and foremost, we would like to see all our guests happy and enjoying our tours for their special and authentic features.
  • The areas we travel into are invariably quite remote but we seek the best available accommodation wherever we are and we do not offer camping facilities.
  • Occasionally the quaint town we overnight in has a limit of accommodation, very clean and comfortable with only 5 or 6 rooms in total – this is a fascinating feature of the outback.

  • A luxury wilderness lodge can be very different to a nicely restored and presentable shearers quarters on a million acre outback station where we live-in with the family, their home.
  • Our Australian accommodation throughout any one tour is quite varied and we prefer to book private rather than shared facilities.
  • Some tours involve luxury apartment or lodge style accommodation where guests enjoy their own private room with a private en-suite or a common bathroom with another guest.
  • Where guests are encouraged to share we try to vary the mix of guests throughout the tour.
  • Couples and friends will enjoy double or twin bed accommodation as requested.
  • Singles accepting twin share accommodation will be matched with another of the same gender.
  • If we do not fill a twin room then a remaining single can enjoy the room at no added cost. However, other singles may be granted this benefit as we mix and match across the duration of the tour.

Given the variety of accommodation and circumstances across any one tour we will review any single supplement request on application most likely resulting in a private facility on most nights and twin share with private facilities on another occasional night.
