Guided Walking Tours

Walking Australia - guided walking holidays and tours in beautiful wild places

Guided walking holidays and tours have always featured extensively in Nature-Bound programs, bringing personal rewards, fitness, wellness and companionship to all our guests.

Guided walks have become a specialty.

Whether you prefer rambling, walking or tramping in Australia

  • the various tours cover a broad spectrum of experiences, regions and landscapes
  • so too are the walks many and varied
  • here is your chance to be up close and personal with Australia’s unique plant and wildlife in a small group, non-invasive way.
  • there is simply no substitute for exploring the wild on foot.

Participation in all walks is optional and alternative enjoyment for non-walkers is always considered.

Walk along the overland track to Cradle Mountain and Barn Bluff

All the trails presented on these walking holidays have been personally researched and walked by our Founders, resulting in a selection of full day and half day guided walks and some gentle roaming in inspirational settings.

The walking programs are interspersed with relaxed travel days linking each world heritage site and national park destination. International guests can enjoy a holiday tramping or rambling in Australia.

We favour multi-night/day stop overs so more time can be given to your walking, exploring and relaxing while on tour.

All the tours featured below have walking highlights.

Where we explore some very remote, arid but beautiful desert country the tours are geared more to soft adventure and leisure travel rather than extensive walking.

If you prefer a more passive holiday than one with integrated walks then take a look at our Outback and Frontier Tours or Short Tours and Getaways.

If you seek more detail on our walking programs for each tour, then feel free to telephone us on +61 7 3254 1911, enquire online or email us at tours@natureboundaustralia.com.

About the Walks

On all tours participation in the guided walks is optional so you can craft your holiday according to your abilities and fitness levels. Virtually all our walking holidays have included guests over 50 yrs of age - proudly young and active.

Trails vary significantly between tours but are generally selected to be moderate to easy in grade or challenge, ranging in length from 2 to 10 kms (2 to 6 miles) with a few stretched to 16 or 18 kms (10 to 12 miles). All tours and guided walks are scheduled for the most comfortable seasonal conditions.

Duration of walks (conducted at a leisurely pace) are:We welcome international walking groups

  • Roaming (R) – less than 1 hour
  • Half day (HD) – approx 3 to 4 hours
  • Full day (FD) – approx 6 to 8 hours

We usually have two tour guides / walk leaders, making it possible for us to offer both easy and more challenging walks when the occasion so determines.

You will not have to carry full packs but rather a small day pack with basic personal belongings for the day. An active day ensures accommodation must be comfortable (the best available near trail heads – usually 3 to 5 star) and meals are hearty.

These and other unique Australian experiences, beyond the pleasures of walking, are contained in the tour selection below.

Join us on the trails!
