Highlights of this tour include, some of Australia's iconic beaches and seascapes, a 4WD beach journey to the world heritage Fraser Island (the world's largest sand island) with its spectacular coloured sands, towering forests, pristine freshwater "perched" lakes and giant sand blows. We follow this with a day visit to the world heritage Great Barrier Reef and Lady Musgrave Island, a true coral cay emerging in the ocean and home to a range of sea birds and an exquisite azure lagoon filled with sea turtles, colourful fish and coral. A tour with exceptional contrast, we journey into the outback to walk in the deep gorges and canyons of Carnarnon National Park, then the granite strewn landscape of Girraween where balancing boulders, domes, pyramids and tors defy belief. Then we enter an ancient land of world heritage rainforest dating back 200 million years to the super land mass of Gondwana and primitive forests born in Antartica. The ever changing landscapes and habitats reveal an abundance and variation of wildlife, unique to this continent down under. Then there is the friendly informal nature of a relaxed people and the vastness of space far from invasive crowds.
